Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It's surprising how many students come to school with their basic needs unmet: missing meals, essential toiletries, domestic stability, and warmth in the cold months. For a student to be successful in the classroom and for their brain to take in and retain information, their basic needs must be met.

My goal is to provide a classroom that cares for the whole child by providing them with supplies that simply make them feel seen as another human being.

When a student feels safe and valued, that level of care will build a solid foundation where the student can flourish academically.

Some of my students are not getting their essentials at home and come to school looking to fill that void. Some students do not have stable living situations where they have access to those essentials. I want them to see our school and our classroom as a safe haven where they can land softly and learn in the process.
