Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach 3rd grade ELA in LA to between 70-75 students a year. I have the most eager, rambunctious, and hilarious students ever. There's not a day that goes by when I don't get a good laugh in. My students are mostly low income and very diverse. Although they have being battling educational gaps due Covid-19 and now the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, they have been extremely resilient and eager to soak up every once of learning they can get.

My Project

Please help provide my scholars perfect kid-sized seating which will be used to improve concentration and focus in the classroom at their desk and small group areas of the classroom.

Flexible seating helps to reduce restlessness, fidgeting and prevent boredom.

Some of the seating options also promotes healthy posture. The use of flexible seating in the classroom is not just a cool idea that my scholars will love, but most importantly, having flexible seating will keep their minds focused and bodies engaged. In these strange times where kids no longer get recess time to just run around and play, it is very important that they are provided opportunities to be able to fidget.
