This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Second graders are notoriously curious which is one of the things that makes them so wonderful. They are always questioning the world around them, and they are wildly interested in everything that is going on around them.

Sometimes, though, second graders need to narrow their focus for a test, for a final draft of a piece of writing, or for the last chapter of the book they want to finish.

These classy privacy folders make it possible for each student to focus in on the world that is right in front of them. Fifteen years ago, before these privacy shields were available online, I made privacy folders from tape and cardboard, but they've had so much use that they've simply worn out.

This year, my school has had a large number of students moving into our zone, and the notebooks I purchased on sale at the beginning of the year have all been used. With these notebooks in school colors, I can give each new student the notebook that their classmates have, lending a simple visual sense of belonging to all our new arrivals.
