This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Student who struggle to read fluently are often embarrassed. Reading aloud enables struggling reader to gain more confidence as a reader. Fluency phones, also called whisper phones, can be a useful reading helper for kids both in and outside of the classroom.

Using a whisper phone allows a struggling reader to practice reading aloud to themselves, without their voice being too loud for a peer to hear.

The sound of their voice is amplified in the whisper phone so that they are the only one hearing their own voice. Even if the student doesn't struggle with reading fluency, using whisper phones helps with listening comprehension when reading a new book, article, or passage. Some students benefit from the auditory learning process, instead of trying to read in their head.

Please help me give my struggling fourth grade students these whisper phones to encourage reading fluency.
