My Project

We are starting a new curriculum series next year in our district. The state of Ohio is moving toward the Science of Reading and this book is one that begins the year. I would like my students to read the entire novel instead of a chapter or two provided in the curriculum. Reading the entire novel will promote good literature in fourth grade and also give students a chance to read an entire novel.

Reading the novel, Flora and Ulysses will jump start our year and provide rich and rigorous literature to enhance their reading.

This novel will help students with the concept of theme as this novel talks about the importance of hope in times of struggle or sadness, as well as the importance of family and friendship. I think this novel will engage students right as the school year begins and hope that they will want to read more throughout the year.
