My Students

"You HAVE to read this book!" A student's book recommendation is the single most effective tool for motivating others to read. This camera will help capture these recommendations through book talks that will be posted in the classroom and on our blog using Voice Thread.

My seventh grade students love to read.

Sometimes, life gets too busy and reading gets pushed to the bottom of our "to-do" list. A little motivation is usually all it takes. We regularly give book talks in class and often, kids will ask "What was the book you shared last month?" Having a constant reminder will help my students keep reading a priority.

My Project

This camera is tough a necessary attribute when being handled by 12 and 13-year-olds. More importantly, it will be an exciting way for students to share books they've read. Students will need to plan their words carefully and capture their enthusiasm in one to two minutes. Viewers of the video book talks will be both motivated to read and excited to add their own book talk to our online collection.

Oprah captured the nation's attention with her TV book talks and interactive discussions.

We might not capture the entire nation's attention, but using this camera will definitely get the attention of this seventh grade class and future seventh grade classes!
