Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school. Many students come from homes that are low income. All students receive FREE breakfasts and lunches.
The students are working well to become 21st century learners and future leaders through our Leader in Me program and the MINE 2019 initiative.
Through the Leader in Me initiative, the students learn to take ownership in their learning. The flexible seating equipment will align with the MINE Personalized Learning Framework that is a HUGE topic for this school year. When creating flexible learning spaces, students find it more appealing to collaborate, communicate and learn with more choice of space throughout the day, which will in turn decreases shutdowns and outbursts. These new learning tools will NO DOUBT have a positive impact on their learning.
My Project
These materials will allow students to move while simultaneously engage in learning. I have found most Kindergarteners to have lots of energy that they need to release throughout the day. It is important to focus, but staying still for such long periods of time is extremely hard for them.
I truly believe the flexible seating will have a positive impact on student learning, engagement, communication and collaboration.
The wiggle seats, stools, and cushions will allow the students the opportunity to move in the classroom to a spot that is the most comfortable. Students will have the opportunity to choose seating they prefer and allows them to stay FOCUSED!!
