My 4th grade students are from Herriman, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City. They are in a large elementary school that houses Kindergarten through 6th grade. They are smart, kind, students who enjoy learning, creating, and building.
My awesome students have been through a lot in their young lives.
Two years ago, their second-grade year was shut down two and a half months early due to COVID. That meant no friends, no field trips, or end of year festivities. Last year as third-graders, they attended school under numerous COVID protocols or were online learners. This year, we are trying to have as normal of a year as possible, something that these sweet kiddos haven't had since they were first-graders.
Headphones, wiggle stools, and desk kick-bands, are items that would help promote learning and make this school year great! We use technology every single day in 4th grade. One of the items students use are Chromebooks. Headphones are necessary for most activities online, especially when you have 31 students in a classroom. We asked parents to please provide a set of headphones for their child at the beginning of the year, but many could not afford to. Having a set of headphones available for each of my students while they're at school would really help them to be more successful.
Wiggle stools and desk kick-bands are flexible seating options that I would like to provide for my students.
Wiggle stools have soft, comfortable cushions that have adjustable bases to accommodate all the different sizes of students. Wiggle stools help to reduce fidgety bodies by allowing students to continually move without distraction, which helps students stay more focused. Desk kick-bands also help with focus issues, allowing students to kick or bounce their feet.
