Flexible Seating Options

My students need more seating options to work comfortably in our classroom. The Sofa Sack Bean Bag chairs will give students portable seating options. The Premiere Products resin bench will give students space to collaborate.

My Students

When I talk about my students, they are "my kids". I would do anything for my kids. I'll be starting my sixth year teaching at a title one school this fall. The majority of our students get free or reduced lunch. Each year I'm lucky enough to work with students who speak English as their second language. They quickly become my babies. We laugh, learn, cry, and grow together every day. Our classroom isn't a classroom - it is our home.

Most mornings, I have one or two of my students from previous years drop by my classroom for a hug.

They tell me about how they love being in their new classes, but wish they could come back to our home with their family.

My Project

Last year, I shifted my teaching mindset to be more student-centered. I gave my students opportunities to get their hands dirty and learn by playing. This year, I wish to deepen that achievement.

I believe there is power in choice.

My second grade students successfully grasped the concept of knowing where in the classroom they worked best. This year, I will be teaching fourth grade literacy. There are a lot of ways for students to work flexibly around the room while reading and writing.

With this project, our class will receive a Premiere Products Resin bench, A Parsons Modern Coffee Table, and a bench cushion and accent pillows made by Greendale Home Fashions. These items will create a workspace in our classroom where students can collaborate.

Our classroom will also receive two Sofa Sack Bean Bag Chairs and four Greendale Home Fashions round outdoor cushions. These items give the students the freedom to move around the room and work comfortably on the floor.
