Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a dedicated National Board Certified Education Specialist working in a high school environment. Our Title I school serves a diverse population, and I am inspired by the determination of my students as they navigate social, emotional, and academic challenges. In my Community-Based Instruction (CBI) class, we have had the opportunity to engage in various activities, including joining the yearbook staff, participating in school events, volunteering in the community, and serving on the Associated Student Body (ASB). My students thrive in movement and hands-on experiences, and I am truly honored to be their teacher, striving to encourage them to surpass their greatest expectations.

As the 2026–2027 school year begins, my classroom is already in full swing!

I am excited to welcome new students, including several wheelchair users who require taller, accessible desks with enough space to comfortably mount and use their AAC communication devices.

These new desks and chairs will not only meet my students’ accessibility needs but will also add a fun splash of color and personality to our classroom. My goal is to create a welcoming and engaging environment where every student feels comfortable, included, and motivated to focus, learn, grow, and flourish within their school community.

Creating a classroom centered on compassion, inclusion, and accessibility helps nurture a community built on trust, independence, and empowerment. Every student deserves a learning space that supports their individual needs and gives them the opportunity to participate fully and successfully.
