This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am moving from a 4th grade to a 3rd grade classroom this year. This will be my second year at BFS in Harrisburg. I am hoping to create a classroom that is warm, inviting and homey for all of my students. I want it to be a safe place for them to come and learn. I need your help to be able to provide this environment for them.
My students deserve the opportunity to be able to choose where they learn in the classroom.
This choice needs to go beyond the traditional desk and chair arrangement. When students are given the opportunity to make choices they feel empowered. Our district may be facing many changes in the near future, but my desire to provide the best possible learning experience will remain. Please help me provide the classroom environment that they deserve.
My Project
I would like to provide seating choices for my students. We expect students to be able to sit and learn for long periods of time in today's schools. This can be difficult when all we have are traditional desks and seats.
Variable seating provides students with a choice in where they learn.
Students feel empowered by choice and this can help with student engagement and participation in learning. Variable seating also provides students with the ability to move throughout the day, they are not restricted to a desk and chair. This movement is beneficial to their physical health as well as their ability to concentrate and learn.
