My students need flexible seating to help stimulate their minds, create a fun and different way of learning, and to help them make their own choices. I have also added some dramatic play items.
In my Kindergarten class there are 20 students that come to me at all education levels. It is my job to give these students the best education and to give them the confidence to know they can do anything they set their minds to. Some of my students come to me not knowing how to hold a pencil, form complete sentences, not knowing any letters or sounds, and much more. By the end of the school year these students can write multiple complete sentences, read simple books, and are excited to keep learning!
My students are caring, thoughtful, and smart 5 year olds that brighten any day I get to spend with them!
They are great at recognizing when a friend is having trouble or is feeling sad and are always ready to console and help them with whatever they might need.
I am very proud of my students for accomplishing not only their educational goals, but also for being the best little humans that care for each other.
My Project
I have chosen to do some flexible seating (Comfy Floor Seat and Comfy Pillows) options in my classroom this year and am very excited about the options I have chosen. Flexible seating has some great benefits for student learning. Some of these benefits being student choice, better collaboration, allows for movement, stimulates sensory, and creates comfortable spots for students to learn. All of these reasons are important for students to be excited for school and learning.
Kindergartners need to have choices!
They are constantly up and moving around the classroom. Having the options of what type of chair they would like to sit in would make a difference in their mood for learning. I have not yet experienced my own students with this, but have talked to many other teachers that love their flexible seating.
