I have chosen to do some flexible seating (Comfy Floor Seat and Comfy Pillows) options in my classroom this year and am very excited about the options I have chosen. Flexible seating has some great benefits for student learning. Some of these benefits being student choice, better collaboration, allows for movement, stimulates sensory, and creates comfortable spots for students to learn. All of these reasons are important for students to be excited for school and learning. Kindergartners need to have choices! They are constantly up and moving around the classroom. Having the options of what type of chair they would like to sit in would make a difference in their mood for learning. I have not yet experienced my own students with this, but have talked to many other teachers that love their flexible seating.
