My Students
The students in our school each have unique life stories. They come from a variety of cultural backgrounds which influence their experiences in the school and classroom. Our school is in the south metro area educating 5th through 8th graders. The students that attend our school include special education and English learning students. As a Title 1 school, we service a high population of students that receive free or reduced lunch. They enjoy engaging activities and fully understand the importance of their education.
My Project
The use of yoga balls provides flexible seating. This allows the students to work comfortably in the classroom and improve productivity. This allows the students to use up excess energy, increase motivation and engagement, improve core strength and overall posture, create better oxygen flow to the brain, and improve metabolism. The stands will allow for safe storage of the yoga balls.
Studies show that students who participate in short bouts of physical activity have an increase in academic performance and better behavior.
