My students need a variety of alternative seating. This sensory tool allows them to move around in their seat and stay focused. A variety of seating types including the balance ball chairs will help the students.

My Students

I love the tenacity I see in my students. Most of them face the obstacles and challenges of Autism. They experience the world and everyday interactions with people in ways that make just getting to the learning part of school a challenge.

Beyond the challenges of Autism, many have learning disabilities, sensory issues, developmental delays, anxiety, depression and more.

Working with my kids is inspiring and motivating as I want to provide them the best environment to meets their needs.

My Project

Flexible seating allows my students to consider what will help them in a physical way to learn best. Providing them with different options allows them to own their learning.

A 75 minute class period for any student can feel like forever, let along a middle school student with Autism.

Simple motions such as bouncing up and down on a balance ball chair or rocking on a stool can help meet their sensory needs as they are learning new material.

The population of students at our school learn best when their environment is optimal. This means that comfortable seating does more than facilitate learning, it makes the learning possible.
