This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I'm looking to provide my students with more seating options in order to support the diverse needs of my students and allow for more students to be involved in our small group sessions. In our classroom, the only seating is that of the floor or the chairs provided by our school. For many students the provided chairs are not always the best option.

I want to be able to provide students with different seating options that support their physical and emotional needs as well as support our learning environment.

For some of my students, working at a table is not conducive to their learning, so offering stadium seating on the floor closer to the board would be helpful. For others, they have lots of energy and a wobble chair would help them stay in their space without distracting others. And the stools would be most beneficial to our small group time. When students are working at the teacher table for more one on one instruction, I am only able to fit 5 chairs at my table comfortably. Several of my groups require me to have 6-7 students with me at a time, and the stools would allow for more space for students to comfortably join me during our small group sessions.

It would be amazing to be able to have some diverse seating in my classroom for both my students and myself. I know there is a lot of potential for my classroom to support my students as best as it can but I just need a little help.
