My students are from a low income area in an inner city area. These students are part of an ICT classroom, meaning 1/3 of the students have a learning disability. This project will provide the students in my class with flexible seating options so that they can continue to find success in the classroom. I teach ELA to two different classes of 5th graders. Each class has 30-33 students, so about 70 students altogether.
Please allow me to provide my students with choices in their learning; these choices empower them more than you know!
Students spend a large portion of the day completing reading and writing activities.
Right now, my students sit on the floor, or any empty space they can find to have "flexible" seating.
These comfy floor seats actually provide students with a comfortable choice to complete the day's lesson.
Students feel empowered by choice and enabling them to have a say in their learning can make a world of difference in motivation, interest, and self-esteem.
Please consider donating to my project. These students are extremely hard-working and deserve choice in their learning. We can teach each other that kindness goes a long way. ultimately, creating a chain of giving back.
