My Project

Going into my first year of being a special education teacher, I want my classroom to be a comfortable and safe place for my students. I will be teaching a 6th grade, self-contained 6:1:2 autism class.

I don't believe that students should be sitting in a hard, traditional, classroom chair for 8 hours every day, especially students with disabilities.

Having choices of where and how to sit, will allow students to have freedom to make decisions in their learning. It creates independence that all of my students are working towards.

This is my students' first year at School 12. They are coming from a school that has been closed within the district. Being at a new school can be scary and nerve racking for anyone. Having a place to call "home" that is comfortable, accessible, and welcoming, is what I am working towards. Your donations to this project will help in this goal.
