My students need flexible seating in my classroom. This allows students to exercise and move while they work. With wobble chairs, scoop rockers, floor seats and sand chairs, the students can be comfortable while they work.
Our school is a rapidly growing, low income school. Our school is a Title I school. We serve a variety of students who come from various cultures and backgrounds. With the rapid growth we are trying to reach all students needs through various means. The students in my class are loving, smart, and kind. They love to read and several of them recently received perfect attendance awards because they are at school and on time every day! I hope to surprise them by giving them a variety of seating choices.
My Project
I have introduced flexible seating in my classroom. This allows students to exercise and move while they work. Currently, in our classroom, we have 6 yoga balls. The students love using these items, but they are limited and my students are asking me to get more.
With Wobble Stools and Scoop Rockers, hyperactive students or students with special needs are given the opportunity to move while they work and stay engaged in curriculum they are working on.
This type of seating will provide an outlet for restlessness and extra energy. Students can be active while seated.
The cushions will be able to be used on the chairs. Some students like to sit in chairs since they have the back support, but by the end of the day they become hard. These cushions would allow them to learn in a more comfortable way.
