Help me give my students flexible seating for our classroom. These items will give my students the ability to move while they are seated whether from bouncing or spinning or wobbling.
My students are amazing third graders who come from a low socioeconomic area. The students I teach are in a general education classroom but many of them have small struggles when it comes to paying attention. My students come to me with very little when it comes to supplies and many have home lives that make me cringe. I am their safety net and their comfort. They also come to me with very small attention spans and the want to move as much as possible.
While I try to include as much movement as possible in my lessons to keep my students engaged some lessons require that they sit and listen.
For my students it can be difficult to sit quietly and listen while I am leading a whole group lesson. My students make every day of being a teacher worth it and I am hoping to create an environment that my students thoroughly enjoy being in. My students deserve to have an environment they feel safe in and that they want to come to every single day. I am the safety and comfort for many of my kids and our classroom is the best place they can be daily.
My Project
These items will help my students gain the ability to focus at a time that is important for both them and myself. I will use these chairs on an everyday basis and let my students choose their own type of chair in order to make them feel more welcome in my classroom. I want the students to take ownership of the classroom as well as their work so that they feel like they are just as important as the items we are learning.
I am wanting to encourage movement in the classroom with our seating as well as the lessons that I teach.
I am hoping to use this seating to reach my students in a way they haven't been reached before. I am hoping this will help them learn and be excited about the things I am teaching them everyday in an environment they take ownership of.
I am wanting to use this seating to reach my kids and give them the tools they need to be able to succeed in my classroom. In order to succeed my students need to be able to move around and get out the wiggles so that they can hear me and focus on my directions. Without being able to follow directions their ability to succeed will be hindered.
