Flexible Seating - Embrace the Wiggles!

Help me give my students flexible seating options! I have a lot of students who work better when they are able to move around. Sitting still inhibits their ability to concentrate.

My Students

My fourth grade students love to move! I currently teach a class of 24 students from multiple different cultures and backgrounds. Many languages are spoken in my classroom. The students are very bright and have huge potential.

It is very rare to not see a nose in a book!

My students love to read and discuss what they've read with me, their teacher. They also love to incorporate music and movement into different concepts such as math.

This group of kids has taught me so much, and I want to help them out with this project! Please consider helping me provide resources to build on the successes of my students!

My Project

All students learn differently. This has and always will be true. While some students work best sitting with two feet firmly planted on the ground, others struggle to contain their wiggles! But why contain them?

In my classroom we embrace the wiggles!

When they are able to move around the room, they feel more relaxed and are able to focus more. My goal is to create a classroom environment that is equitable. That means that I want to provide the resources my students need to be successful here at school. One way to do this is to provide flexible seating options. Students learn in a variety of different ways. I have seen how much more focused these students can be when they are able to move. I can't wait to see how excited they get when these tools arrive!
