When I first told my students about the two sofas for our library, they were overcome with excitement. They couldn't believe how kind people were to care about their love of literacy! They waited each day for the sofas to arrive. When they arrived (very quickly) I set them up, and my students were overjoyed to be in this classroom that had a Literacy Lounge. \r\n\r\nThese sofas are much more than seating for our library area— it has reignited or ignited for the first time, a desire to read among my students. They all want their turn to silently read in the lounge! It has had such a great impact that I have heard from some parents that their student who wasn't really into reading, was now requesting new books they could bring to school and read on the sofas. \r\n\r\nSilent Sustained Reading time has now become the favorite time of day for most all of my students. They have even expressed their desire to keep the sofas in good condition for years of students to come. As such, students created their own \"sofa rules\" and abide by them with great pride. I thank you, we all thank you from the bottom of\r\nour hearts for your generous donation and giant impact on our class!
