My Project

As a second-year first grade teacher, I have quickly fallen in love with the joy, curiosity, and growth my students bring each day. Flexible seating will create a comfortable, engaging environment where students can focus during daily stations, while a wider variety of leveled readers will ensure every child has access to books that meet their individual needs. These resources will not only support their academic growth, but also build confidence as they practice and strengthen their reading skills.

First grade is a truly transformative year, where students can grow tremendously and build the foundation for lifelong success.

My goal for this project is to create a classroom environment that nurtures both comfort and a love of reading. By providing flexible seating and a diverse classroom library, I hope to make learning more accessible, engaging, and meaningful. I want each student to feel supported, capable, and excited to learn every single day.

My students are incredibly special because they come from a Title I, low socioeconomic community where access to books and learning resources at home can be limited. Despite this, they show up eager to learn and full of potential. I hope to not only support them in the classroom, but also send home engaging books so they can continue building their skills and discover the joy of reading beyond our walls.
