I am beginning a new year with a brand new set of Kindergarteners. I have yet to meet the sweet faces of my classroom. I am blessed to have moved into the neighborhood directly across the street from my school. I have met so many of the students who will begin their journey in education as the youngest of the school in just two short weeks. They each have a shine that is contagious and a passion for the unknown that thrills me to discover if one of them will be in my room.
The best part of my classroom, are the students I share it with.
The students are what makes you as the educator strive to become better and dig deep in your toolbox to create the perfect lessons that will grow their minds and love for learning. Each year, the children progress from a pre-K learner into a 1st grade scholar. The dedication and hard work from someone so young is an example to all of what we can truly accomplish!
My Project
A five year old's mind is a sponge and they want so desperately to know everything. Reading books on their level allows them to be challenged but successful. I know my class would love having a variety to books to read, and that would build on what they already can do.
Sensory integration and motor control drives the learning in a young child.
Kindergarteners are often busy bodies who have a short attention span, are restless, lack poor posture and coordination, but have a thirst for knowledge. Young scholars need to move.
