My Students

Engage, engage, engaged! What an amazing year it's going to be this year. I'm changing to a 3/4 combo. I'm reteaching 26 of my former students. This year we will be discussing setting and reaching higher goals; our small groups will be named after universities. They will choose which university they will be...with much debate. My families come from varying backgrounds including differing socioeconomic statuses.

My students need to be prepared for the 21st century that utilizes technology, collaboration, creativity, and ingenuity.

I would like to incorporate STEM into my 3rd - 4th grade classroom to ensure that I give ALL my students All possible opportunities to be excited about learning and be successful! The amazing students coming to me this year are all very inquisitive, eager to learn, and truly work hard every day. I differentiate instruction to meet and maximize the learning of all 26 students.

My Project

This project will allow my students to have many choices when choosing where to sit in the classroom to work. The traditional desk & chair combination is no longer the right fit for ALL students. With all the fantastic options students can comfortably sit on stability balls or wobble chairs and use lap desks... allowing students to sit on the floor, or on something that stimulates them. Flexible seating helps students work collaboratively, problem-solve and engage in their learning. In the past students have request to sit on the floor when they work collaboratively in groups or even independent work. This project will give the students the options they desire-comfort, movement, responsibility, and choice. This project would add an additional 3 flexible seat choices. Not only will they be able to increase focus, add sensory movement, have choices of seating, learn better and comfortably, but they will also learn to be responsible. Giving the students the opportunity of seating choices adds a new element of responsibility to their learning and decision making. Please give my students the opportunity to learn in an environment that will be more conducive to different learning styles. Please consider donating to our classroom!
