My Students

These fifth graders would knock your socks off with their intrinsic drive for reading & learning in general! We are are only halfway through the year, and many of them have already surpassed their reading goals they set for themselves!

Every day, we geek out over learning choices together.

Students plan their own schedules & give each other book recommendations. They spread out across the room as they learn in groups, with a teacher, and/or independently. The more choices they have, the more they get to customize their learning journey.

My Project

As with many children after amid the COVID school adjustments, transitioning back to full-time school this year was not easy for our students. One way we have worked to address some of the stressors that have arisen has been to provide as much flexible, student-led decision-making as possible. Paired with a strong classroom library where they can get lost in good books, my students are thriving in our flexible classroom.

However, we need to expand some of our flexible choices & book storage!

Help us get a new bookshelf, organization bins/displays, and floor seats! This will help us better use our space as students make decisions that help them feel comfortable at school.
