I have been in the field of education for almost 10 years! I love my profession and all my students. My experience has always been in a Title I school and I don’t think I would have it any other way. My students come from several different extenuated circumstances and tend to be a grade or two behind. My goal is to fill in the gaps and help my students reach their full potential. In my classroom, excellence is expected and I believe they will all succeed.
This year I have a group of 28 students!
I feel it is important to get to know and build a relationship with each of them on an individual basis. Most of my students are between the ages of 7-8 years old and currently are very interested in Fortnite and LOL Dolls. My students are extremely strong in math but struggle in reading. I am heavily focused on reading because my goal is to have all of my students reading at grade-level before the end of the school year.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to choose what type of seat, area, and way they can most effectively work. This encourages them to think critically and solve problems independently, which are invaluable real world skills. With the requested materials, my students will be able to choose to sit on the floor on cushions, stability balls or wobbly stools.
Many of these seating options allow students to move in ways that are not distracting to others and that will help them stay more focused and alert.
Flexible seating enables students to decide in what ways they work best and take charge of their learning.
Allowing students to have control and choice over their environment, helps them to feel empowered. By donating to our project, you will make this possible, and help my students be successful emotionally, socially, and academically.
