My Students

Our class of first graders is filled with curious young minds that are eager to explore, learn, and grow.

After attending Kindergarten during a pandemic, these first graders deserve a classroom filled with hands-on learning materials and flexible seating options.

These first graders are a resilient, strong bunch of children that are eager to return to school in a healthy and safe manner that involves interacting with each other, learning to make mistakes, getting creative, and learning constantly.

My Project

My first graders are socially and emotionally immature compared to previous years' students due to their lack of socialization these last two years.

Many of my students did not attend preschool or Kindergarten, so this is this their first in-person school experience; therefore, they are not accustomed to sitting in chairs or only using pencil and paper to do their work.

Flexibility in seating and hands-on learning manipulatives will allow these young students to move around and engage with their learning. They will be able to focus on their reading skills and math skills by using a variety of learning tools in small groups and during whole group instruction.
