Help me give my students a classroom that is set up for success. Help us have an organized room with our drawer cart, as well as a comfortable room with floor cushions and lap desks for flexible seating.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a first-year fifth-grade teacher, I'm walking into an empty classroom with the opportunity to create a space where my students feel welcomed, supported, and excited to learn. Every item on this list has a purpose, whether it's helping keep our classroom organized, creating engaging lessons, or making sure students have the tools they need to be successful. My goal is to spend less time worrying about supplies and more time building relationships and helping my students grow.
I want my classroom to be a place where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and enjoying learning.
Flexible seating, hands-on math games, reusable learning materials, and classroom management tools will help me create an environment where students can stay engaged and meet their individual learning needs. Organization systems and everyday teacher supplies will also help our classroom run smoothly so we can make the most of every minute together.
Just as importantly, I want my students to feel like our classroom is a community. Small rewards, birthday celebrations, and simple touches that make the room feel warm and inviting help create a space where every child feels seen and valued. As a new teacher, I'm excited to build a classroom that my students are proud to be part of and that encourages them to do their best each day.
While this list may seem long, it's really a collection of tools that will help me build a classroom from the ground up. Many of these supplies will be used for years to come, allowing me to continue creating meaningful learning experiences for future classes. My hope is that every student who walks through my door feels safe, supported, and inspired to learn.
