Help me give my students a carpet, floor cushions, calendar and more they need to succeed in kindergarten!

My Project

Having just graduated in May and starting my first year teaching in kindergarten, I am super excited! But with these excited emotions also comes nerves. Learning how to manage a classroom, create lesson plans, and meet every child’s unique needs, on top of having to create a space where students can thrive in their learning is an overwhelming amount of pressure.

I want to create a space where every child feels safe, supported, and excited to learn, but starting from nothing can make that hard to achieve.

Every supply or piece of the furniture has to come from somewhere and most of it will come out of my own pocket. My kindergarteners deserve materials that spark curiosity and help them grow. I’m doing everything I can, but I can’t do it alone!!

Here are some ways I will use the items I am asking for:

Rug: This rug will be used for whole group instruction throughout the day. I choose a rug with specific “carpet spots” so I can assign them to students. Assigning carpet spots will reduce behaviors while teaching.

Floor Cushions: These cushions will go in my reading corner. They will be used as alternative comfortable seating while reading.

Laminator: A laminator will be helpful in the classroom to protect and preserve materials that are used frequently. Laminating resources will help keep them clean, durable, and reusable, especially in a classroom full of young children.

Label Maker: This will be used to label either students items in the classroom or where they will hang their backpacks/belongings when they come to school.

Calendar: This calendar will be used during morning circle. It will help us learn about months of the year, days of the week and work on our numbers.
