My Project

We've all been in the position where we have to read a book, either for personal reasons or educational reasons. And to be honest, it is not a fun position to be in, especially when you are 9 or 10 and forced to read a boring book.

With your help, I plan on using these new and exciting books to allow my students to read in their first-ever book clubs.

Book clubs offer so many great benefits: students will get the chance to read with peers and discuss their feelings on these books, they will get to strengthen their oral skills by communicating their predictions and ideas about these books, and they will be enthralled with these diverse books.

I work at a Title I low-income school and new books that show diversity are hard to come by. With your help, these books will bring life to this classroom and these students. Covid made so many things difficult, one of them being that students lost a lot of their communication skills. Reading these books in these book clubs will help them get some of those skills back.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
