This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I will be going into my fifteenth teaching year this month in August. I will have a brand new batch of kindergarteners. I have been teaching kindergarten for eleven out of my fifteen years at various school sites. This particular school site serves low socio-economic students. These students are so eager to learn, they are different from other schools because many of them have parent support and I mentioned are eager to learn. This particular grade level, students are like sponges, they absorb everything. I love it.

I could not have asked to be placed at a better school site; students, staff and community are very warm and welcoming.

My Project

My kindergarten class has been limited to enjoying art in the classroom. Art supplies can be pricey especially for a class of twenty four. My goal is to bring Fine Arts Friday back to my class on a weekly basis rather than seasonal. I believe my 5 and 6 years need more than paper and pencil activities. They need to explore and release their creativity. I believe a great way to do this with art. Art can also be crossed into their curriculum such as math and science. Please help bring Fine Arts Friday into my kindergarten classroom. Thank you.
