We then laminated shape cards and used the pens to draw examples of those shapes in real-life objects, such as triangles in roofs or circles in wheels. These laminated cards have become a durable resource we use during center time and small group activities. \r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their excitement was contagious. They eagerly opened the discovery boxes, exclaiming over the colorful shapes and the fun possibilities for using them. One student shouted, \"I know this one! It's a square!\" while proudly holding up a shape.
