Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our school our students are very hard workers and they are very excited to learn every morning when they come to class. We are a very diverse school; at times we will have students that speak at least 2 different languages where English is not their first language. Many of my students' parents will have more then one job so that they can support their family. Even though they are not in their child's life as much as they want to, the parents still have high expectations for their own children. Because of their home life they look to us to help their student grow and become successful at life.

In my classroom we are always striving to do better, and better our education.

I tell my students that education is the only thing that can not be taken away from them. With this mind set my students are always trying to better themselves by setting goals to do so. They may have a hard lifestyle at home, but they love coming to school where it is a safe learning place.

My Project

Our class was lucky enough to get a Donors Chose project filled where we got many new exciting books. My students are very excited to read these books, but my students are in need of getting a more organized way to find a book they can fall in love with. The book organizers will help my students find that book that they can get lost in, explore new ideas, and grow their imagination.

I want my students to want and love reading.

In order to do this we are going to track the books we read with the paper. My students love to make goals and write about the books they read so they can share the fun adventure the book took them on. To do this we are in need of more paper. The bookmarks will just be a fun incentive to help the kids want to read and better their education.
