Our school is working to become more academically STEM-based. We would love to have more supplies to assist us in achieving this goal.
Our school caters to a variety of diverse students.
We have students from all over the world, including refugees. Coming from a number of different socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures, we provide a safe learning environment from them to feel successful. There are approximately 30 students per class, which makes for a great amount of multicultural backgrounds.
We steer away from asking parents to assist with supplies, so it would be beneficial to receive these science/STEM materials.
My Project
Materials that we've asked for will be used for STEM-based learning to engage and enhance student participation and understanding of educational and technological processes.
For example we will use the drones in a STEM activity where students will create an obstacle course, using materials given, to fly drones successfully through.
Another example of use will be to create a complete circuit, by creating an electrical wave which will light-up a bulb.
Also, matter properties will be taught with these materials. For example, the bottles of glue will assist in making slime and talking about the changed this process undergoes. The balloons will also assist in creating experiments where chemical changes take place.
Using Lego and other building manipulatives, students will gain a greater understanding of how to create suitable structures that can withstand earth's processes.
Because we are becoming a STEM centered school, the requested supplies serve many different roles, but were all chosen with the intention of being able to use the materials in a variety of ways.
