My Project

I am looking for the opportunity to give my students the chance to make a wet felting project. In particular, I would like to utilize dyed wool and cutters to enable my students the chance to enjoy this unique art form.

My students are all special needs with a variety of disabilities.

As such we need projects that enable and enrich but don't require a specific tool set. The goal is to always be able to adapt to each particular students needs while maintaining a rigorous academic approach.

This project will enable students to complete wet felting in a variety of ways.

By utilizing textiles my students can grow to appreciate an old art form that has shaped our world. In particular we will be studying the works of Moy Mackay, Dagmar Binder and Fiona Duthie. Afterwards the students will use those artist as inspiration for their own work.

Budget cuts have all but cut off school funding and our meager remaining funds have left us having to make do with alternate materials. While that is part and parcel with the arts it does make for a lack of truly learning the artistic process. To complete this project I am asking for a variety of different natural wools. I am also asking for several different types of cookie cutters for the students to use as a mold in the wet felting process.

Mr. Anderson will only receive his materials if this project is fully funded by July 13.
