Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I truly enjoy working with the students. Many of them are trying their best contrary to the challenges they may face academically. At times, this struggle results in stronger emotions because they are having difficulty with the academic workload. Many students are learning to utilize their words to express their needs emotionally. They often have to be taught the skills necessary to appropriately articulate these needs.
When we think about emotions, they can truly be very complex.
Having the ability to express those emotions and learning how to express their needs; can help students tremendously.
Helping students understand their social emotional needs, is an essential part of their education. Many of my students are visual and auditory learners. Utilizing books such as Hello Anger and others, can help students towards developing healthy coping skills.
Helping me to create a library of social emotional books would be an added benefit to my room for my students. I am sure they would look forward to reading about stories which they could relate to, while learning some new coping skills.
