Fashion Design Room Make Over!

Help me give my students a beautiful, calming fashion design space! Right now it looks so sterile and cold! I would love to brighten up this classroom and create a warm, inviting place for students!

My Project

My students love to learn by doing. They especially feel empowered when they know that what they are doing has an impact on humanity and the environment.

In my Fashion Design and Intro to Family and Consumer Sciences classes, we look at the reality of fast fashion and its effects on both people and planet.

We then critically think of how we want to respond to this, since we are all consumers playing a part in the industry.

With this yard and these cutting tools, students will create their own pom-pom garlands made from ethically sourced yarn. We will make a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing classroom for students to feel safe and welcomed, as well as doing some in response to a real-world crisis. The leftover yarn will be for students to make garlands for their own homes. My hope is that each garland will serve as reminder to them of the unit and what they learned.
