My classroom is a community of love and kindness. My kiddos are full of spirit and have an eagerness to learn. They come from all different socioeconomic families and challenges, from kiddos that never have any snack, to kiddos that are lucky enough to have 500 books in their bedrooms. We live in a rural papermill town right in the heart of Wisconsin. My students not only care about each other, they also care about our planet and everybody works together at our school to provide our students with a high-quality education! My students love to read and are most excited about math class.
My Project
These materials will enhance my students' math lessons and provide an opportunity for further engagement. I spend a lot of time planning guided math lessons. If each student had their own math tool box, that would allow each student to have the tools that they need right at their fingertips. We also spend a lot of time reading and talking about books. Fourth grade is a really important year for readers. If I don't hook them into reading now, their reading practice will only become a school chore. I'm a first year teacher that inherited a small library so I'm always in need of more high-interest books at all reading levels.
