My students need a Flip camera and a netbook computer so that they can create short book talks to share with the school during a reading enrichment period.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Fuel the fire my students have found while reading this year! Their passion for books is palpable in my classroom and I want them to be able to share it with their fellow students.
My students are from a Title One School and are mostly Hispanic.
Our school is poor and in an old building, but it is more like a family for my students than a school. Most of my students have to work to help support their families, so there is little money for extras. My students are creative, yet they have few outlets for their creativity.
My Project
We have requested a laptop computer and a Flip video camera so that my students can create and record book talks to share with their fellow students. This will not only give them a chance to show off their creative side, but they will also have a chance to share to share their love of books!
The greatest weakness at our school is reading.
It is a big challenge to entice our students to read. If my students can share a wonderful book with their fellow students, it might just be the trigger we need to get others to read.
