My students are determined, energetic learners with a passion to explore and grow. Despite the hardships they face, my students walk into the classroom each day with big smiles ready to learn!
My school is an inner-city school with 100% of students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
Many students live in poverty, struggle with the English language and have extremely limited resources. Some of my students are homeless or in foster care. Others are new to the country, while still some others live with a caretaker other than their parent.
Non-fiction is just as important as fiction reading. It can be difficult to find non-fiction texts to keep students engaged. What better way than having Scholastic News Magazine to keep them up to date with what is going on in the world?
Each student will have their own issue of Scholastic to increase exposure to nonfiction and keep them up to date on current events.
The students will be able to keep each issue and share what they are learning with their families. The activities within each issue will be a great addition for the students to work and learn from!
