I am requesting a variety of literature so I can complete a unit of study on fables. Aesop's Fables retold by Ann McGovern would be used as my whole class text. Through the use of this text, my students will have a better understanding of the characteristics of fables, understand why fables were told to people long ago, and have an opportunity to read fables and relate the morals to their own lives. Aesop's Fables by Jerry Pinkney will be used as a teacher-read aloud text. This mentor text is extremely important because it provides my students with a model of what they'll be learning. The additional fables that I'm requesting will be used for guided reading groups and independent reading. Thank you so much for considering my project.
