My 6th-grade students are bright, eager to learn, and excited to come to school each day, so they can grow as much as they possibly can. They are curious, full of wonder, and excited about the world around them. I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina where 100 percent of our children receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My students come from diverse backgrounds, with over 40% of them coming from Hispanic families and/or being considered ESL/ELL.
Therefore, many of our students have limited resources outside of school, so school may provide their only chance to experience enriching activities.
My Project
My scholars are in need of dry erase markers. My students come from low-income families and school supplies are often times not easily accessible. With a generous and much appreciated donation of these markers, students will be able to practice their math problems on the white boards, allowing them to become great mathematicians!
Everyday students are given 15 miuntes to work on Accelerated Math, during this time they use whiteboards and dry erase markers to work out their problems.
Having these Expo markers will allow them to have an unlimited supply so they will be able to continue to work out their problems.
We use white boards and markers on a daily basis. Markers dry out frequently, so we are always needing more.
