Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is an exciting, colorful, amazing place where everyday one hundred and fifty five sixth graders create, express themselves through Art and Character Education lessons and realize that they are so talented and that their creative potential knows no limits.

My students are amazing, excited, creative sixth graders from all kinds of backgrounds and cultures, who merge together for an hour a day in my classroom and create masterpieces that amaze me and even more importantly, amaze themselves.

A student recently wrote me a note thanking me for helping her "realize that she is a talented artist who is very creative".

My Project

We will draw, we will create journal pages, and we will write essays using fancy glitter pens and markers that encourage the students to improve their penmanship, their word usage and the amount that they write. It is so fun to write in colorful, beautiful ink. We will create watercolor journal pages that are extra special to write on. Every student will leave feeling talented and extra special.

These students will never forget the experience of using their first watercolors, of being able to select the most beautiful colored pen before they start writing, and how liberating it is to discover that one is talented and creative after all.
