My students are an extremely diverse group of sixth graders form all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I teach at an inner-city school with a high amount of English language learners and with a high poverty rate. They have not always had contact with the amazing world that is available to them just by turning pages. They are exited about learning, respectful of materials and supplies and in desperate need of an opportunity to grow and develop their academic language and literacy skills.
