Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing and they brighten up my day as soon as they walk through my classroom door each day. They live in the poorest district in the South Bronx. They contribute to every learning experience with vibrant and optimistic ideals that will win your heart!
My Project
Early literacy is one of the biggest concern for most children in our community some don't have the means to adopt the materials to reinforce this. Most of our children come from low-income communities that may be limited to books and tools that will help promote phonemic awareness and emergent reading skills.
Providing the appropriate tools to spark their early literacy skills is a must at an early age.
Children will learn to explore and recognize letters, colors and learn about emotions through books. We will use the books to support our academic goal of teaching the children to enjoy and appreciate books by looking at the print , understanding print and gaining early decoding skills that will help them retell stories and even create their own. Concept of print at an early age is essential and will promote critical thinking skills at an early age.
