The materials from My Mental Health Matters have helped our students learn how to self-regulate, build empathy, and develop coping skills that support both their emotional growth and learning.\r\n\r\nEach day, students are using tools like emotion cards, calm-down corners, sensory materials, and mindfulness activities to manage big feelings and refocus their energy. We've seen beautiful moments of children comforting one another, using words to describe their emotions, and showing patience and kindness toward their friends.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made a real difference—not just in meeting academic goals, but in nurturing the hearts and minds of our little learners. Thank you for helping create a classroom where every child feels seen, supported, and safe.","fullyFundedDate":1758899089413,"projectUrl":"project/my-mental-health-matters/9413833/","projectTitle":"My Mental Health Matters","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Paris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7759641_orig.jpg?crop=2550,2550,x649,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1652125495452","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/classroomofparis"},{"teacherId":7759641,"projectId":9413813,"letterContent":"The new recess toys have become an essential part of our daily routine. The children use the balls for cooperative games, practicing turn-taking and building teamwork skills. The jump ropes are helping them strengthen coordination and gross motor development while cheering each other on as they practice. The parachute has quickly become a favorite – students work together to make waves, bounce balls, and even hide beneath it, learning how to collaborate and follow directions in a fun way. These resources have brought more structure, creativity, and joy to our outdoor play. \r\n\r\nOne special moment was when we introduced the parachute for the first time. The children worked together to keep a ball bouncing high in the air, laughing and cheering with each successful toss. It turned into a teamwork challenge where they encouraged one another to \"lift higher\" or \"hold tight.\" It was a beautiful example of cooperation, communication, and joy coming together in play.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was immediate! When the students first saw the new toys, their eyes lit up, and they couldn't wait to try everything at once. Many ran straight for the jump ropes, while others grabbed the different-sized balls to start a game. The parachute had them squealing with delight as they discovered new ways to play together. Their enthusiasm showed how much these resources meant to them.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to connect recess play to classroom learning. We plan to use the balls and jump ropes in math lessons (counting jumps, measuring distance) and the parachute in science projects (exploring force, motion, and cause-and-effect). This way, the toys will not only enrich physical play but also reinforce academic concepts in hands-on, meaningful ways.","fullyFundedDate":1751515982393,"projectUrl":"project/not-just-any-recess/9413813/","projectTitle":"Not Just Any Recess","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Paris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7759641_orig.jpg?crop=2550,2550,x649,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1652125495452","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/classroomofparis"},{"teacherId":5766197,"projectId":8134474,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donations in providing us with books to help support our emergent reading skills. What a school year! Thanks to your generosity, our scientists have been making such amazing discoveries! Who knew crabs are hairy?! Or that there are so many different types of beetles?! The microscopes have been such an amazing tool for the students to use and make stunning discoveries. They absolutely enjoy getting to touch creepy bugs without fear of the bugs touching or crawling on them. \r\n\r\nThe AirToobz machine has been nothing short of amazing no matter how many times students have played with it. They are constantly discovering new tube configurations to build and the learning about how the force of the air used changes the speed and way the balls move through the tubes. Not only have they learned so much, they've strengthened their fine and gross motor skills working hard to build the tracks pushing together the tubes. \r\n\r\nThe marble runs have opened up critical thinking pathways for students such as cause and effect and planning as they observe the path the marbles travel. We've been so busy learning and having fun I almost forgot to send our thanks. My exceptional students were amazed to see all the materials including the manipulatives which supports there learning development. It provided me and my co-teachers the ability to facilitate 1:1 instruction using the counters and manipulatives. Students were engaged as they were able to sort and count by colors. The printer allowed all teachers to print out visuals to support their learning, such as creating patterns. In addition I noticed the students built awesome structures with the colorful building blocks. \r\n\r\nOverall, my students showed excitement exploring all materials. My students fine-motor development is significantly delayed. The manipulatives will strengthen their muscles within their hands allowing them to manipulate objects appropriately throughout the day.
