Expand EL Teacher Toolbox

I need to go to two trainings to expand my English Language teaching to meet the needs in our district. One is for catching students up, the other is tools to help students exit from EL.

My Students

I have an amazing group of students! I teach English Language (ESL) to middle school students in mixed group classes in grades 6, 7th and 8th. The students speak another language at home, and are improving their English Language proficiency for success in all of their classes.

My Project

I would like to attend two Bureau of Educational Research teacher trainings for teachers of English Language students. The trainings focus on two topics that our our district EL focus this year. One is catching up ELs who have fallen behind academically. The other is to help EL students exit the EL program. We have a number of students who have been in EL over five years and need help getting the tools to exit. I have attended BER training before and like the content, the training and the information that can be used in the future.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
