My Project

I teach fourth grade in a small, quaint coastal beach town in Seaside, Oregon. Every day students are excited to explore culturally diverse reading materials connecting students with positive representations of many cultural groups.

These rich, diverse multicultural books will enhance our fourth-grade classroom library that I aim to achieve.

Our classroom library is a place that students enjoy! Daily students look forward to independent reading time, where they choose a book, get comfortable, and read independently.

We are participating this school year in ORCA (Oregon Reader's Choice Award.) This endeavor is a fun way for the Oregon youth to be enthusiastic readers and students will be able to view societal issues from different ethnic perspectives and points of view. All of these books have been chosen with students in mind. It is so rewarding to listen to students discuss their books and participate in rich book talks.
