Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach grades 3 through 5 special education in an urban setting. The students in my class need extra support in many subjects.

The students I work with have to deal with many obstacles at home and in school.

They have to deal with being pulled out of their regular classroom into a self contained special education classroom which is a very small room. They are old enough to understand that they struggle in reading and because of this they often refuse to read and become easily frustrated. This in turn has an impact on their academic progress. In this classroom I have tried to show the children how fun and important reading is in a hands-on approach.

My Project

The tag readers and books will help make reading fun. It will help a struggling reader read by assisting them with words that they do not know and asking questions as they read. It is interactive and fun, which will keep the students focus. I firmly believe these readers and accompanying books will help my students to really enjoy the book they are reading.

The tag reader and books will help ensure that my students will build a confidence level in their reading that will give them self confidence in life as a whole.

They will become stronger readers and writers. Your support would be greatly appreciated by all of my students.
